Jamie’s Proven Gut Healing System: Module 1 of 9
In this module, you will learn about the many symptoms of gastrointestinal imbalances, including skin problems like psoriasis and eczema, gallbladder problems, seasonal allergies, food sensitivities, and mood disorders. You will learn how to assess your own gastrointestinal function using functional medicine tests as well as through assessment of “reflex” points known as Chapman’s reflexes in chiropractic and Front Mu points in Chinese Medicine.
Thyroid Health Program: Part 1
Your thyroid gland is located at the seat of the throat chakra, as described in Ayurvedic Science, and is associated with Kidney Yang in Chinese Medicine. Physiologically, your thyroid gland affects energy production in every cell of your body. Overactivity as well as underactivity of the thyroid gland can contribute to fatigue, insomnia, and a variety of metabolic problems that cause an array of symptoms. Emotionally, an underfunctioning thyroid gland can contribute to depression, apathy, and dull emotions; an overfunctioning thyroid gland can contribute to mania, impulsiveness, and nervousness. Psychospiritually, the thyroid gland is associated with personal power, your unique voice and ability to express yourself, and will to achieve or fulfill your goals. In order to heal your thyroid gland on a physical, emotional, and/or psychospiritual level, it is important to understand how the thyroid gland works, the nutrition it requires to stay well, the chemicals in our environment that can disrupt thyroid function, and how to pinpoint the cause of an overfunctioning or underfunctioning thyroid.
Thyroid Health Program: Part 2
There is much confusion about iodine supplementation both as an optimal health and disease prevention strategy as well as a therapy for hypothyroidism. Individuals suffering from hypothyroidism are often told to not use potassium iodide supplements and to also avoid iodine containing foods such as seaweed and shellfish over fear that they will have a reaction to iodine supplementation that could worsen their condition. However, most people consuming a Westernized diet tend to be deficient in this highly important mineral. So should you or should you not use a potassium iodide supplement for hypothyroidism? Part 2 of the Thyroid Health Program explains how to read your own body to assess whether or not you need an iodine supplement, and how to properly titrate the dosage to prevent an iodine reaction causing hypothyroid and/or hyperthyroid symptoms.
Thyroid Healing & Prevention Strategies
After reading the information in the Thyroid Healing Program Parts 1 and 2, you should now have a solid understanding of why Synthroid (levothyroxine or synthetic T4) does not alleviate the symptoms of hypothyroidism nor does it heal the root cause of an underfunctioning thyroid. You should also now understand that there are many different causes of hypothyroidism, which means there are a variety of strategies for both healing and prevention, depending on the underlying root cause. Additionally, there are specific nutritional strategies for Graves disease or hyperthyroidism which are safer than radioactive iodine (I-131) and/or surgical removal of the thyroid gland. The strategies for maintaining the health of you thyroid, as well as for addressing the root cause of an underfunctioning or overfunctioning thyroid are outlined in this section of the thyroid healing program.
Detoxification Program: Module 1 (The Phases of Detoxification)
In module 1 of this 8-part series on detoxification, you will learn about the 3 phases of detoxification that your body must go through to effectively excrete environmental (exogenous) and metabolic (endogenous) toxins. Stimulating phase 1 detoxification without also promoting phase 2 and phase 3 detoxification can result in harmful reactions as well as failure to excrete the toxic substances. Learn which foods, nutrients, and chemicals stimulate or inhibit each phase and empower yourself with knowledge so that you don’t harm yourself by engaging in a “cleanse” program that only stimulates phase 1 detoxification!
Detoxification Program: Module 2 (Specific Sources of Toxins)
In the second module of this advanced course in detoxification, you will learn who is polluting in your community and what the health hazards of each environmental contaminant actually are. You will learn how to spot the signs of toxic overload of specific substances, and how to properly assess tissue levels of each substance. This is an important step in choosing a detoxification regimen because you will need to know what substances you are trying to detoxify from in order to choose the correct detoxification agents.
