MagneDerm™ is a pure, 100% natural solution of magnesium chloride, coming from high quality magnesium salt derived from the depths of the earth’s interior – all from the ancient Zechstein Seabed in Europe.
Ultra-pure and untouched by pollutants, this magnesium salt was protected at depths of 5,000-6,500 feet in the Zechstein Seabed for the past 250 million years.
Why Topical Magnesium?
This transdermal delivery system is highly efficient, bypassing the problems inherent with oral supplementation… ultimately reducing the time needed for assimilation.
This was confirmed by a study involving 30 patients in which intracellular magnesium levels were restored to a normal range within 4-6 weeks using transdermal magnesium chloride.
In this study, using transdermal magnesium chloride, the average increase in intracellular magnesium levels was 31.2% (from a baseline of 31.4 mEq/L to 41.2 mEq/L)

Q: How do I determine dosing levels?
A: Many prominent researchers feel that the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for magnesium is far too low, and is set at the minimum acceptable level to stave off deficiency symptoms, not at the optimum to ensure good health. According to Dr. Carolyn Dean, MD, a highly respected medical authority on the subject, research over the past 20 years has shown us that even under ideal conditions approximately 300mg of magnesium is required merely to replace daily losses. However, as a general rule of thumb, an appropriate daily intake of magnesium should be approximately 3-4 mg per pound of bodyweight. For a 200lb male, this would equate to 600mg to 800mg per day. Chronic health complications, emotional and physical stress, physical injury, athletic exertion, alcohol consumption, certain medications and poor lifestyle/dietary choice, all increase your daily magnesium requirements. Women who are pregnant or lactating also have elevated magnesium requirements. MagneDerm™ gel delivers approximately 150mg of elemental magnesium per ¼ teaspoon to the skin. This would equate to roughly the size of a nickel. It is recommended to remove any body lotions, creams, and moisturizers prior to using MagneDerm™, which can hinder uptake of magnesium ions by the skin.
Q: How frequently should MagneDerm™ be used?
A: Generally speaking, MagneDerm™ should be used with higher frequency during the first 3-4 months in order to ensure proper restoration of cellular magnesium levels. It is advisable to begin the first few days of application with modest use (once or twice a day), and gradually work up to larger amounts (three to four
times a day). After this initial period of restoration, you may choose to use MagneDerm™ just a
few times per week or stay at the higher dose frequency. It all depends on the individual, as everyone responds differently and with different needs.
Q: How many servings are in one container of MagneDerm™?
A: It will vary based on the dosage used however, if using 1/4 teaspoon per dose (150mg elemental Mg) this would = approximately 120 servings per 8 oz bottle.
Q: Why 30 minutes for leaving the gel on the area on which it is applied?
A: 30 minutes is recommended to ensure optimal absorption.
Q: Is it important that the area on which the gel is applied is washed with water 30 minutes after application?
A: Although not crucial, the reason for this recommendation is twofold – (1) as mentioned previously, at the 30 min point it will be absorbed probably as much as it can be and (2) it may feel a little sticky and people may want to wash it off with a wet cloth.
Q: What would be the best time of day to apply the gel?
A: While there is no advantage gained at specific time of day, for convenience purposes, apply 30 min or so before showering, and then wash off the excess.
Q: Where does MagneDerm™ magnesium come from?
A: The pristine source for MagneDerm™ magnesium gel lies within a deep underground (nearly 2 miles) seabed in Northern Europe referred to as the Ancient Zechstein Sea. It is extracted from the earth by a process known as solution mining, and it is currently the most coveted source of naturally occurring magnesium chloride on the planet.
Q: I experience some tingling when I apply the MagneDerm™ magnesium gel. Is this normal?
A: Some users of the magnesium gel who have sensitive skin may experience tingling and/or some slight irritation at the site of application due to the high concentration of magnesium chloride. This effect is completely harmless, and can vary based on a number of factors, including where you apply it on the body
and how much you are applying. Diluting the magnesium gel 1:1 with pure spring water can reduce this effect, although it is a matter of personal preference. Additionally, those who do experience this effect report that the tingling lessens with each subsequent application.
Q: Will magnesium applied topically produce a laxative effect like oral magnesium supplements?
A: It is unlikely for topical magnesium to produce a laxative effect. This is a fundamental advantage of using MagneDerm™ magnesium topically, as your skin can naturally self-regulate the absorption of minerals. However, it is still advised to start with a moderate application of one or two doses per day and build up to more frequent applications as some individuals may be ultra sensitive. The laxative effect seen by many users of various oral magnesium supplements is due to an inability of the GI tract to absorb larger quantities of elemental magnesium that are found in dietary supplements, and the consequence is your bowels attempting to flush the unabsorbed excess out. While different people have varying thresholds of sensitivity to oral magnesium supplements, there is a low potential for this to occur when MagneDerm™ is used topically.
Q: Is there a maximum daily limit for using MagneDerm™ topically?
A: No. As mentioned before, the skin has a unique ability to self-regulate absorption, and therefore overuse is of little concern. However, it is always advisable to start slow
and gradually dose to tolerance.
